Victorian Historic District
Immediately south of the Landmark Historic District stands what many consider one of Savannah's remaining hidden jewels, the Victorian Historic District. Chock-full of grand gingerbread-laden structures, the Victorian District offers similar planned streetscapes to the Landmark Historic District along with substantial houses on sizeable lots. Homes here tend to be large and offer a side yard or some sort of green space such as a courtyard or patio, and even occasionally includes a carriage house. Interior details are the "selling point" of these properties with high ceilings, large windows, double parlors and pocket doors often still intact. This is an active area of restoration with the resurgence of the Starland District and its artists' community and a sprinkling of notable restaurants and cafes in the Thomas Square District. Yet the fabric of the area remains a vibrant pallet of urban hues and historic charm.
